Ayesha + Rob in Hampstead

Ayesha and Rob’s wedding in Hampstead will go down in my books as having quite a few superlatives: the most number of newborn babies, pregnant women, and SLR cameras – it must’ve been one of the most photographed weddings in London that day! They also had the friendliest guests in attendance, and so many of them made me feel like part of the family by the time I left. They were married at the beautiful St Mary’s Catholic Church, nestled among the houses in a narrow lane, right in the middle of Hampstead village. After the service we headed to nearby Fenton House for some photographs before heading to St Stephen’s where the party was just starting. Here are a few faves from the day:

Ayesha arrived in a vintage Mercedes, which would later transport us to St Stephen’s. It was previously owned by Donovan and Rob, a massive Beatles fan, was happy in the knowledge that he was sitting where George Harrison did on many occasions as he was a frequent passenger.

Like many grooms, Rob isn’t keen on being photographed but I think he did exceptionally well. All he had to do was show his gorgeous new wife a bit of love – easy!

A big, fat congratulations to Ayesha and Rob, who are at the moment meandering around the awesome temples (in the true sense of the word) of Angkor.

Amy + Stuart | Islington Town Hall

I love weddings in the City and they’re even better when Amy and Stuart are the ones tying the knot, two people who have masses of energy! It’s pretty clear that being together brings the best out in each other and you only had to see how they look at each other to see that in action. After saying their I do’s at Islington Town Hall we braved the cold for a few portraits around Smithfield before joining their guests in the warmth of The Distillers in West Smithfield, just across the street from the meat market. It was a fab day with plenty of grooving on the dance floor, thanks to the LowDown who were knocking out the tunes. Here are a few faves from Amy and Stuart’s big day. Catherine + Lucho | Fulham Palace

Modern times means the world feels like it’s shrinking . There are no longer any boundaries when it comes to life, and love, and this was the case for English lass Catherine and Colombian hermano Lucho. The wedding had a Latin flair, which made the large contingent who came over from Colombia feel right at home, with plenty of shots of the traditional poison and punchy Colombian sounds that you couldn’t help but move your feet to. Catherine contacted me when her online search for a photographer landed her onto the blog, where she recognised a handful of people that she had gone to school and university with, one being school friend Melissa, who also had her wedding at Fulham Palace! We made the most of the grounds before the light faded and then spent the rest of the evening all cozy by the fireplace. Here are a few faves from the day:

Oxford Engagement

While catching up on blog posts from work done last year, I was reminded that there actually was a summer! JJ and Silas have lived in China, New Zealand, the US and Hong Kong – and this is separately! Enduring a long distance relationship across so many miles is what I call true love. They met while studying at Oxford and had a flying visit into the UK to spend some time together for an engagement session.

Holly + Ben | Isle of Wight

My very first visit to the Isle of Wight was to photograph Holly and Ben’s simply *excellent* wedding. The day was so relaxed, and I can’t help but think it’s because it was held at their restaurant and home, The Little Gloster. They are one of the hardest working duos I’ve ever come across, putting all their energy into making their restaurant into the success that it is today. I am amazed at how well they organised their wedding despite being already incredibly busy. It was an absolute pleasure to witness Holly and Ben’s union and I’m pleased to feature some of my favourites from the day:

I never worry about the weather when photographing weddings, what will be will be – this is the UK after all! My view is if you can’t beat it, join it. The weather, although a bit on the breezy side, was kind, with plenty of gorgeous sunshine and blue skies.

If I could describe Holly and Ben’s wedding in one word, it would be “togetherness”. So many people contributed to the day, from their guests who made great efforts to travel to the island from different parts of the globe, to making Holly’s beautiful dress and others who made sure that everyone was fed, watered, made-up, coiffed and taken care of on a hectic morning.Ben’s thoughtful wedding menu reflected his experience working as a chef all over the world as well as closer to home, celebrating his Danish roots. The best men’s speech was an absolute killer! The accompanying slideshow left everyone in tears, including me!

2012 in Review

2012 was certainly a year to remember, especially in London, with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, although by far the most memorable event for me was the arrival of my son, William. I was wondering how being a mum would affect my work and I’m pleased to say that I feel more inspired and energetic than ever, with new perspectives on life. I’m really looking forward to what 2013 will bring! Here’s a quick round-up of the highlights of 2012:

Colette + Tom | London Wedding Photographers

Holy moly my blog’s been completely neglected as of late. After a busy autumn, it’s time to get back on track! First up is Colette and Tom’s wedding in Beckenham. We met up via Skype where they told me that their photographs were one of the most important aspects to their wedding and they wanted a set of images that they could look back on to relive all the fun of the day, accompanied by their gorgeous, identical twin girls. I love working with couples like Colette and Tom, who like to have a bit of a laugh and a boogie (I think that’s how it all started!) and I loved how they just enjoyed the day, mingling effortlessly with their 200 guests. Here are a few of many faves. I think they get the award for the longest queue for a hog roast – by the time the last few people rocked up the chef was handing out ribs and some other morsels!

Sophie + Jesse at Islington Assembly Hall

Sophie and Jesse have had more experiences of the world in their young lives than many people will have in their entire lives. Both received an international education growing up and as a result have friends in all corners of the globe, many of whom made a long journey to London to see them tie the knot. They first met about fifteen years ago and I think it’s safe to say they are without a doubt the best of friends, sharing a passion for all the good things in life like travelling, good food, art and close friendships. Sophie has ties to London where her grandmother lives, and we all met up in her amazing flat in Hampstead before heading over to Islington Assembly Hall together for their humanist ceremony. Her home is crammed full of all kinds of things and I’m sure each one of them could tell a story or four! Here are a few faves from the day:

I wonder if they’ve saved “the wedding spreadsheet”, which made an appearance quite a few times during the day!

The Assembly Hall, right next to Islington Town Hall, was recently fully restored and retains much of its original post-war features.
