Vik first contacted me last year while I was on holiday in Thailand about some pretty amazing plans he had for his wedding to Bally. Being a creative working for the BBC, he had a clear idea of how he envisaged the day, right down to the most minute detail, including his cashmere socks! Throughout the year we’ve been in touch and I’ve felt quite involved in the plans. The build-up of anticipation to the run-up to the wedding was unbearable! Despite a huge schedule of events and a complex logistical plan, they pulled it off to perfection and it was a day none of their 600 guests will forget.
Bally’s clearly beautiful enough to grace the catwalks but what really warmed me to her was her unassuming, down-to-earth nature, completely unflappable.

While Bally was getting ready, Vik was at home with his family preparing for the day. I was fortunate to have a couple of photographers help out, one of whom is Elizabeth Dalziel, a seriously accomplished photojournalist who’s documented the world’s major events for over a decade. It’s always interesting working with other photographers who come from different backgrounds and outlooks. It only enriches what we do. In fact, I’ve been delving a lot this year into other areas of photography which I’ll be writing about in a later post. Here’s one by Elizabeth:
I was also joined by Kim Gray whose vast experience and knowledge of Asian weddings was invaluable in planning our coverage that took in multiple locations all over Yorkshire. Here’s one of my faves by Kim:

Interesting wedding photography is as much about the things that happen on the fringes as the main events. Here’s a lovely, quiet moment captured by Elizabeth:

We stopped by Harewood House for a few portraits before zooming off to Hotel du Vin in Harrogate where Vik and Bally got changed for the evening.

Vik and Bally made their grand entrance back to Harewood House by helicopter. Viewing a blanket of golden light over the Yorkshire countryside from the air makes you feel happy to just be alive…sigh…
